The Organization
Kupu Center is a community-based organization in Hawaiʻi dedicated to serving high-risk youth, including those experiencing homelessness and young people carrying trauma. Their work is profoundly relational and deeply rooted in the community, guided by a caring and impactful leadership team.
The Engagement
Strategic Partnership: For this engagement, Michele partnered with Nancy Vuu, a globally renowned fashion designer with a shared passion for imparting vision and hope to young people.
Inspiring Message: Together, they spoke to the youth about the importance of dreaming big for their lives. This was a deeply impactful message that asked something real of a room where many young people have had good reason to stop hoping for more.
Equipping Leaders: Alongside the speaking session, Michele introduced Brave & Beautiful and Brave & Bold to the Kupu Center leadership team, providing staff with tangible resources to carry the momentum forward after the event concluded.
The Outcome
Program Evaluation: A senior decision-maker at the Kupu Center is currently evaluating the curricula, with the hope of running Brave & Bold with the boys and reviewing the Brave & Beautiful edition for the girls.
Ongoing Connection: Beyond the engagement itself, Michele maintains a continued friendship with the leadership team, carrying a deep honor and respect for the vital work they do.
