The meeting
The meeting included counselors from the Maui Complex, along with a few other neighbor-island complexes. They were presented with both the Brave Together curriculum line and the Dream Big Journal.
The work Michele did at the meeting
On May 8, 2025, Michele delivered the presentation to the Department of Education counselors at the meeting, alongside Phyllis Unebasami, recently retired Deputy Superintendent, and Lisa Nagamine, who helps oversee middle school principals across the state of Hawaiʻi. Both joined as co-presenters.
The outcome
The counselors were made aware of the Brave Series and had the opportunity to study it and hear a full presentation. The leaders of the meeting also purchased Dream Big Journals for each of the counselors present as a gift to be used as a resource. This meeting gave the Brave Series and the Dream Big Journal excellent exposure across the counselor team.
